Hospitality

Do you know how to both receive and offer hospitality?

We learned hospitality from our national friends, more than from our background. Welcoming people into your home, and learning how to be welcomed into the home of a new friend in another cultural setting is vital to communication. We all must learn what is considered hospitable in the nation to which we are called. People in many cultures love to take care of guests and at times to a level of sacrifice to their family, which we must be aware of. Some clumsy guests, not aware of their host’s income, have eaten a month’s supply of butter, or half a chicken, not noticing that the children now have no lunch! Income scales and generosity need to be taught and learned by candidates.
